Job summary

Pioneer in Columbus, OH is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to prepare complete and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects throughout the preconstruction and bidding process.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years in commercial estimating, preferably with public hard-bid projects, and be comfortable owning bids in an at-risk environment while coordinating with owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 10+ years of commercial construction estimating and preconstruction experience.
• Public hard-bid estimating experience preferred.
• Ability to own bid pricing in at-risk environment.
• Strong reading of drawings and contract documents.
• Proficiency with estimating software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for conceptual, schematic, design development, GMP, and hard-bid phases.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents for quantity takeoffs and pricing.
• Solicit, evaluate, and scope subcontractor and supplier proposals for completeness and competitiveness.
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, and internal teams in preconstruction.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability issues, value engineering opportunities, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare bid packages, clarification documents, qualifications, and alternates.
• Maintain historical cost data, unit pricing, and estimating databases.
• Support the transition from preconstruction to operations with thorough handoffs of estimate assumptions, scopes, budgets, and expectations.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, estimate reviews, and client presentations as needed.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, subs, suppliers, and industry partners.
• Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

Pioneer is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our client's growing team in Columbus, OH. This individual will be responsible for preparing complete and accurate cost estimates for commercial construction projects throughout the preconstruction and bidding process.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of commercial construction estimating experience, preferably with public hard-bid projects, and be comfortable working in an at-risk estimating environment, taking full ownership of their bids and understanding the financial responsibility associated with the final price.

This position plays a critical role in delivering competitive, accurate proposals while supporting successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Experience estimating projects in an at-risk delivery environment with full ownership and accountability for bid pricing.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods, materials, pricing strategies, scheduling, and market conditions.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Proficiency with commercial estimating software and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Stable employment history demonstrating reliability, professionalism, and long-term commitment.
