Job summary

Stark Enterprises in Cleveland, Ohio is seeking a Construction Estimator to prepare detailed, timely cost estimates for development and construction initiatives. This role analyzes drawings, specifications, and site conditions to define scope, materials, labor, and total project costs.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with Development, Planning & Design, Construction, and Finance, while coordinating with subcontractors and vendors to verify pricing and scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate Development, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience preparing detailed estimates, budgets, and bid analyses.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical plans.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical scopes.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates based on drawings, specs, site conditions, and project requirements.
  • Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project scope.
  • Review construction documents for clarity, completeness, and risk.
  • Collaborate with Development, Planning, Design, Construction, and Finance for estimating support.
  • Communicate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing and clarify scope.
  • Maintain organized estimate files and logs.

Job description

The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate detailed and timely cost estimates that support the companys development and construction initiatives This role involves evaluating project drawings specifications and technical documents to determine the scope of work materials labor and overall project costs The Construction Estimator works cross functionally with internal teams subcontractors vendors and external partners to ensure estimating processes are thorough competitive and aligned with organizational goals This position requires strong analytical ability technical expertise and effective communication skills to support project planning and decision making

Essential Functions
  • Estimating & Cost Analysis Perform detailed quantity take offs for civil architectural structural and mechanical scopes
  • Develop accurate cost estimates based on drawings specifications site conditions and project requirements
  • Prepare conceptual estimates and budgeting documents for early stage development
  • Analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals for accuracy completeness and alignment with project scope
  • Evaluate and compare materials equipment systems and construction methods to optimize project value
  • Review technical construction documents including plans specifications and addenda
  • Draft scopes of work RFIs clarifications exclusions proposal narratives and supporting documentation
  • Identify gaps conflicts or potential risks within contract documents and recommend solutions
  • Review and comment on construction contracts and proposals to ensure clarity and alignment
  • Collaborate with internal teamsincluding Development Planning & Design Construction and Financeto provide estimating support throughout project life cycles
  • Communicate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing verify quantities and clarify scope
  • Participate in internal project meetings providing clear updates on estimate progress cost challenges and opportunities
  • Utilize estimating tools and software including MS Excel MS Word Bluebeam Revu ProCore and related applications
  • Maintain organized project files estimate logs and supporting documentation
  • Support continuous improvement in estimating processes templates and cost databases
  • Conduct visits to local and regional project sites to assess conditions impacting cost and constructability
  • Travel as needed to meet subcontractors attend walkthroughs or support project evaluations
  • Demonstrate company core values consistently
  • Complete additional tasks projects and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor or the company
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Real Estate Development Construction Management Engineering Architecture or a related field
  • Self motivated creative and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Inquisitive and eager to understand technical components of construction systems
  • Ability to read interpret and analyze civil architectural structural and mechanical plans and specifications
  • Knowledge of construction sequences systems materials and methodologies
  • Field experience in construction or a related technical discipline preferred
  • Experience preparing detailed estimates budgets conceptual pricing and bid analyses
  • Proficient with MS Excel MS Word Bluebeam Revu ProCore and other estimating or bidding platforms
  • This role is in person and office based
  • The position requires the ability to sit for extended periods use office equipment perform site visits and communicate effectively in person by phone and via email
