Job summary

Valcourt Group in New York is seeking a Construction Waterproofing Estimator to manage the estimating process from initial review through final proposal submission. This role collaborates with internal teams, clients, specifying engineers, and vendors to develop accurate, competitive estimates for waterproofing, masonry, and concrete repair projects.

You will oversee the Estimating Assistant, coordinate with project managers, and help drive timely bids.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent construction estimating experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant estimating or construction experience.
• Experience reviewing RFPs, plans, specifications, amendments, and related documentation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with estimators, managers, engineers, owners, and contractors to understand project scope and cost adjustments before proposal submission.
• Review RFPs, plans, specifications, amendments, and related documents to determine scope, materials, labor, schedules, and costs.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and participate in pre-bid meetings as required.
• Prepare detailed estimates and provide support to management and peer review teams.
• Consult with clients, vendors, and internal teams to resolve scope or pricing issues.
• Maintain and update the directory of manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate with project managers to develop work crews, production rates, and cost databases for comparison against estimates.
• Support and promote best practices related to the company’s safety program.
• Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure timely estimate completion.
• Manage communication between upper management and estimating staff regarding active bids and opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Construction Waterproofing Estimator is responsible for managing the estimating process from initial review through final proposal submission. This role works closely with internal teams, clients, specifying engineers, and vendors to develop accurate, competitive estimates for waterproofing, masonry, and concrete repair projects. The position reports to management within the estimating department and oversees the existing Estimating Assistant.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with estimators, business development managers, project managers, construction managers, engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to fully understand project scope, changes, RFIs, and cost adjustments prior to proposal submission
• Review and analyze RFPs, plans, specifications, amendments, and related documentation to determine scope of work, materials, labor, schedules, and overall project costs
• Perform quantity takeoffs and attend pre-bid meetings as required
• Prepare detailed estimates and provide supporting information to management and peer review teams
• Consult with clients, vendors, and internal construction teams to formulate estimates and resolve scope or pricing issues
• Maintain and update the company directory of manufacturers, suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
• Coordinate with project managers to develop work crews, production rates, and maintain a database of actual direct and indirect costs for comparison against estimated costs
• Support and promote best practices related to the company’s safety program
• Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure timely estimate completion
• Manage communication between upper management and estimating staff regarding active bids and opportunities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Abilities

• Experience in waterproofing, masonry, and concrete repair/restoration strongly preferred
• Knowledge of construction procurement processes, contract award and buy-out procedures
• Familiarity with RFIs, AIA industry-standard documents, exhibits, and contract documentation
• Understanding of accepted industry practices, materials, techniques, and general code requirements
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Marketing, Sales, or a related field OR
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant estimating or construction experience

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer
• Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally
• Ability to travel as required
