Job summary

JSG is seeking an Estimator for a direct hire, onsite position with a large commercial electrical contractor in the Dallas area. Recent Electrical Estimating experience with on-screen take-off is preferred.

The Estimator will report to the Chief Estimator and lead engineered estimates up to $5M, review contract documents, and mentor junior staff. Strong NEC knowledge and estimating software proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• 4 year Construction/Engineering degree or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience working for a commercial electrical contractor.
• 1+ years recent Electrical Estimating experience with on-screen take-off preferred.
• Computer literate and able to master department’s computer systems and software.

Responsibilities

• Lead fully engineered estimates up to $5M.
• Understand the concepts and process of conceptual estimates and budgets up to $1M.
• Review the scope specified within the proposal and ensure estimates include appropriate scope.
• Develop detailed cost estimates and proactively identify deficiencies and/or questions; actively assist the project team toward the answers.
• Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes.
• Proficient with estimating software.
• Working knowledge of McCormick and Bluebeam.
• Mentoring Estimator Trainees & Estimator 1 staff.

Recent Electrical Estimating experience with on-screen take-off experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

The Estimator will report to the Chief Estimator and be responsible for the following:

• Responsible for multiple systems on Technical, Health Care or Industrial projects
• Lead fully engineered estimates up to $5M
• Understand the concepts and process of conceptual estimates and budgets up to $1M
• Review the scope specified within the proposal and ensure estimates include appropriate scope
• Develop detailed cost estimates and proactively identify deficiencies and/or questions; actively assist the project team toward the answers
• Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes
• Proficient with estimating software
• Working knowledge of McCormick and Bluebeam
• Proven accuracy, reliability and completeness in job accomplishment
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Review Estimate take-offs
• Understanding and familiarity with NEC
• Mentoring Estimator Trainees & Estimator 1 staff

Requirements

• 4 year Construction/Engineering degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related career experience
• 2 or more years of experience working for a commercial electrical contractor
• 1 plus years recent Electrical Estimating experience with on-screen take-off experience preferred
• Computer literate and able to quickly master and apply department’s computer systems and software

Pay Range: $75k - 120k
