Job summary

Engtal, a Boston-based construction firm, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its preconstruction team on technically complex healthcare, higher education, life sciences, and institutional projects.

You will develop budgets from concept to documents, review drawings, track costs, and lead bid packages with subcontractors, collaborating with project management, owners, design teams, and consultants.

Qualifications

• 8–15+ years of construction estimating or preconstruction experience.
• Experience with a General Contractor or Construction Manager in Greater Boston.
• Background in healthcare, higher education, life sciences, laboratory, institutional, or complex commercial construction.
• Ability to independently build and manage complete estimates.
• Experience with negotiated work, subcontractor bidding, budgeting, cost analysis, and value engineering.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, subcontractor scopes, and the Greater Boston construction market.

We are partnering with a long-established, Boston-based Construction Management firm to hire an experienced Estimator for its preconstruction team.

With more than a century of experience in the Greater Boston market, the company is known for technically complex projects across healthcare, higher education, life sciences, research, and institutional construction. The firm offers the project sophistication of a major construction manager while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented culture with strong employee tenure.

Responsibilities

• Ability to independently build and manage complete estimates.
• Experience with negotiated work, subcontractor bidding, budgeting, cost analysis, and value engineering.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, subcontractor scopes, and the Greater Boston construction market.

Base Salary: $145,000 – $200,000, depending on experience.
