Job summary

Civil West in Phoenix, Arizona is seeking an Estimating Student to work with experienced estimators on project opportunities and cost estimates. You will help shape pursuits that strengthen communities and gain hands-on exposure to the estimating process.

The role involves quantity take-offs, sub-trade solicitation, bid document control, and site visits, with emphasis on developing relationships with subcontractors and learning BEST Estimating software.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Architectural Drafting & Estimating Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with project personnel, suppliers, subcontractors and owners.
• Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications, and perform quantity take offs.

Responsibilities

• Review and perform quantity survey assignments with lead estimator.
• Performs general sub-trade solicitation duties.
• Bid document control and bid day assignments.
• Sub-trade bid reviews and recapping.
• Visits job sites periodically.
• Use of in-house estimating software (BEST Estimating).
• Develops relationships with subcontractors.
• Other duties as assigned.
