Job summary

Gabriella & Co. is partnering with an established commercial general contractor in Houston to hire an Estimating Manager.

You will lead comprehensive cost estimates for competitive bids on $20M+ commercial projects, own trade scopes and pricing coordination, and mentor developing estimators. The role sits at the center of preconstruction, operations and field teams, with influence on project profitability and build strategy.

Qualifications

• Current or recent experience estimating directly for a medium or large commercial general contractor.
• Independently developed estimates on commercial projects valued at $20M or more.
• Strong quantity takeoff, plan reading, spec review, scope development and subcontractor coordination.
• Experience managing, coaching or mentoring junior estimators.
• Positive working relationships with trade partners and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals on $20M+ commercial projects.
• Own trade scopes and pricing coordination across preconstruction and field teams.
• Provide constructability input and mentor estimators.
• Coordinate vendor and subcontractor bids and plan distribution.
• Develop scopes of work for all trades and create bid coordination materials.
• Present bid summaries and procurement materials to stakeholders.
• Identify profitability opportunities through insurance structures, fees and rates.

Gabriella & Co. is partnering with an established commercial general contractor in Houston to hire an Estimating Manager. You will lead comprehensive cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals on $20M+ commercial projects, own trade scopes and pricing coordination, bring constructability input to preconstruction, and mentor developing estimators.

The role sits at the center of preconstruction, operations and field teams, with real influence on how projects get built and how profitably.

What you'll own

• Quantity surveys of materials from project plans, with a clear audit trail between estimates
• Reading, interpreting and outlining specifications for bids and negotiated proposals
• Complex cost estimates and full deliverables for major commercial projects
• Vendor and subcontractor bid solicitation, pricing coordination and plan distribution
• Scopes of work for all trades, including responsibility matrices and bid coordination
• Bid-day summaries and procurement presentations
• Constructability input with operations and field staff; tracking value-creation opportunities through final documentation
• Applying insurance structures, fees and rates to identify profitability opportunities
• Training, mentorship and estimating guidance for the team; developing self-perform estimating capability

What you bring

• Proficiency with On-Screen Takeoff, Microsoft Excel and BuildingConnected
