Job description

Location: Hybrid, Appleton, WI

Company: The Boldt Company – National Power & Industrial

Anticipated Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,200

At Boldt, we build more than complex projects—we build strong relationships, great teams, and lasting impact. As we continue to grow our Renewables portfolio, we’re looking for an Estimating Manager who brings strong estimating expertise, a collaborative leadership style, and a genuine commitment to developing people.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll lead both projects and people, guiding renewable energy estimates from preconstruction through constructability while partnering closely with project teams. You’ll oversee and mentor a team of 4–5 estimators, foster open and respectful dialogue with Project Executives and operations leaders, and ensure estimates reflect sound strategy, financial accountability, and real‑world execution. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who enjoys asking the right questions, respectfully challenging assumptions, and helping teams deliver successful projects together—while shaping meaningful infrastructure that supports a more sustainable future.

Qualifications
  • Four‑year architecture, engineering, construction management or related degree required.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience in the construction industry, including estimating and project delivery.
  • At least five years of leadership experience required.
  • Self‑starter mindset.
  • Strong understanding of the full EPC process.
  • Experience with estimating, cost modeling, and financial accountability.
  • Experience working with estimating tools beyond Excel (WinEst experience preferred).
  • Renewables experience strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Led or contributed to pursuits in the $5–$10 M range.
  • Exposure to self‑perform work, labor rates, and subcontractor cost analysis.
  • Field experience (Field Engineer background welcome) or post‑award preconstruction exposure.
  • Ability to think with a field execution mindset and understand schedule and risk drivers.
Benefits
  • Employee‑Owned: Your work fuels our success—and your future.
  • Purpose‑Driven: ESG‑focused work aligned with strong values.
  • Better Together: Teamwork, trust, and shared accountability.
  • Safety First: Everyone home safe—every day.
  • Career Growth: Real development through mentorship and hands‑on learning.
  • High‑Impact Projects: Complex industrial work that matters.
  • Lead & Mentor: Learn today, lead tomorrow.
  • Rich Culture: What started as a carpentry shop has grown into a multi‑million‑dollar company built on relationships and craftsmanship.
  • High Performance: By people, strengthened through AI and technology that enhance collaboration, transparency, and results.
