Job summary

Cahill Contractors LLC in Oakland, CA is seeking a summer intern for our construction management team. The role combines on-site exposure with office work, in a hybrid environment with a minimum of 3 days in the office.

Responsibilities include assisting with quantity take-offs, coordinating with subcontractors, and helping prepare estimates and scopes of work. Strong math, Excel familiarity, and plan review skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred, but not required.
• Able to review plans and specs with understanding.
• Experience with Excel.
• Good math and analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented.
• Able to provide closure to assigned tasks within deadlines.

• Communicate with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist with preparing necessary documents for subcontractors to budget and bid from.
• Assist with preparing scopes of work for various construction trades with no gaps.
• Analyze subcontractor / supplier proposals for completeness and accuracy.
• Negotiate pricing with subcontractors / suppliers.
• Assist with preparing pricing qualifications.
• Assist with the final assembly of estimates and GMPs before submitting to the client.
• Develop Value Engineering opportunities to present to the client and architect.
