Consigli Construction Co., Inc. is seeking an Estimating Intern in Washington, DC to join the Estimating team in person.

You will assist with quantity take-offs, subcontractor coordination, and product research to support cost estimates and bid preparation. The role emphasizes documenting assumptions, maintaining cost databases, and collaborating with engineers, architects, and suppliers to align estimating activities with project goals.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Foundational understanding of construction processes, materials, systems, and terminology.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel for cost tracking and analysis.
• Familiarity with estimating tools (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with quantity take-offs, unit pricing, and cost comparisons; compile detailed estimates for materials, labor, and project systems.
• Manage subcontractor lists and contacts, conduct product and supplier research, maintain estimating databases.
• Conduct site visits to collect data such as access, topography, and utilities; analyze historical cost data for bids.
• Prepare and reconcile cost estimates against previous projects and monitor actual vs. estimated expenditures.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the estimating process.
• Support bid development by preparing expenditure statements and tender documentation; participate in reviews.
• Identify risks or variances using cost-monitoring systems to aid negotiations.
• Maintain accurate updates in estimating databases and project files to ensure workflow compliance.
