Job summary

Pacific Construction, headquartered in Stockton, CA, is seeking an Estimating Coordinator to join the estimating team. The role supports budgeting, bid preparation, and preconstruction activities on tenant improvements and ground-up projects across markets.

The ideal candidate has early-career experience in construction administration, is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable communicating with subcontractors by phone, email, and meetings. This is a full-time, on-site position in Stockton.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1–2+ years in construction administration, project coordination or estimating support preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Word and Project.
  • Experience with Bluebeam, Building Connected, Procore or similar tools.
  • Interest in learning construction terminology, drawings, and estimating processes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate subcontractor and supplier bid invitations and solicit pricing.
  • Track bid opportunities, deadlines, addenda, and other estimating deliverables.

We are adding an Estimating Coordinator to our team, located in our company headquarters. The individual we seek is a hard-working, dedicated, and self-motivated professional who is looking to join a dynamic general contractor focused on private commercial construction. As a member of the Estimating team, the individual will assist with budgeting and bidding tenant improvement and ground up projects across a range of market sectors.

About the Role

At Pacific Construction, the Estimating Coordinator plays a key role in supporting the estimating and preconstruction process from opportunity tracking through bid submission. This position combines construction administration, project coordination, and estimating support in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and priorities.

The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. They are comfortable managing competing priorities; communicating with subcontractors and vendors on the phone, in person and via email; and supporting the estimating team throughout the bid process. While this is a junior-level position, we are looking for someone who demonstrates the same qualities that contribute to successful estimators, including critical thinking, accountability, adaptability, and strong communication skills.

PrimaryResponsibilities
  • Coordinating subcontractor and supplier bid invitations, solicit pricing, and monitor bid participation. This involves communicating with subcontractors (on the phone, via email and various web-based platforms) to secure their commitment to providing bids and answering basic questions they have regarding scopes of work. NOTE: If you are uncomfortable making phone calls, prefer to only use email, this is not the job for you!
  • Tracking bid opportunities, deadlines, addenda, prequalification requirements, and other estimating deliverables.
  • Setting up and maintaining bid opportunities, project information, and estimating documentation within estimating platforms.
  • Maintaining bid calendars and supporting the timely completion of bid and preconstruction milestones.
  • Coordinating and assisting with job site visits and taking notes at these meetings for the entire team.
  • Researching and identifying new subcontractors and suppliers to strengthen bid coverage.
  • Reading or learning to read plans and specifications to understand project requirements and scopes.
  • Assisting estimators with quantity takeoffs, data entry, and cost information gathering.
  • Preparing bid comparison sheets, proposal support documents, and other estimating reports.
  • Coordinating meetings and assisting with proposal preparation, document collection, and bid submissions.
  • Organizing and maintaining plans, specifications, proposals, bid documents, project files, and estimating records.
  • Maintaining historical cost data and estimating databases.
  • Supporting project handoff activities between the Estimating and Operations teams following project award, including uploading awarded bid information and subcontractor documentation into project management systems.
  • Supporting process improvements and administrative functions within the estimating department.
  • Assisting with document execution when applicable.
  • Additional job-related duties as requested by management
Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and/or technical school. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Hourly wage: $27/hour - $32/hour (The actual hourly wage offered will depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to relevant education, training, skills, and experience.)
