Job summary

SunSteel in Vancouver, WA, is seeking an estimating support professional to assist with preparing estimates for projects, specifications, proposals, and related documentation. This role reports to the Estimating Manager and focuses on data collection, pricing accuracy, and cross-department coordination.

You will create and send RFQs, perform data entry for pricing, and prepare new project files for software transfers.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate from college or technical school; three to six months related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combinations of education and experience.
• Ability to speak effectively to customers and prospects, efficient writing skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel & Word.
• Office knowledge and Competence in basic math skills – add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written or diagram form.
• Performs data entry for accurate pricing.
• Knowledge of all standard office equipment – phone, computer, copier, etc

Responsibilities

• Creates and sends out Request for Quotes to subcontractors/vendors.
• Performs data entry for accurate pricing.
• Prepares new projects for software transfer.
• Composes and types reports and routine correspondence.
• Files correspondence and other records.
• Inputs information into computer to maintain files and job progress reports.
• Distributes appropriate documents to other departments as instructed.
• Compiles and types statistical reports.
• Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in an effective manner with customers, co-workers, clients and supervisors.
• Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor.
