Job description

The Cosmetic Counter Manager reports to the Sales Team Manager/Store Manager and ensures the uniform execution of the Belk direction within their store. They are responsible for meeting and exceeding goals established by Belk and the cooperative vendor by coaching associates on how to sell custom-fit services and build long-term customer relationships.

Development - Responsible for:
  1. Analyzing daily/weekly/monthly business and recommending strategies to impact business to Store Management and Vendor Account Executive.
  2. Managing the achievement of counter sales plan by helping each associate meet or exceed personal SPH goals based on counter volume standards.
  3. Recruiting, interviewing, and retaining quality staff, with open positions kept to no more than 2 weeks average.
  4. Developing bench strength in existing staff and recommending candidates for promotion or added responsibility.
  5. Implementing effective scheduling to guarantee proper coverage based on business needs.
  6. Staffing according to sales plans to maximize counter productivity.
  7. Utilizing Belk/Store promotional calendar to maximize associate SPH.
  8. Communicating clearly and consistently with the selling team using effective skills such as maintaining self-esteem, focusing on behavior outcomes, reinforcement techniques, asking for feedback, and setting goals with follow-up dates.
  9. Conducting team meetings prior to major events and launches, and regular briefings with Beauty Advisors.
  10. Communicating inventory needs to store management.
Sales - Responsible for:
  1. Meeting or exceeding personal sales per hour goals.
  2. Demonstrating excellent selling skills and customer service as a role model.
  3. Executing successful promotions and events, including pre-sells and GWP’s.
  4. Driving sales through customer clienteling.
  5. Working with store management to optimize business-to-business relationships.
  6. Achieving assigned dollar line goals.
  7. Identifying and reducing shrinkage.
Customer Service - Responsible for:
  1. Meeting or exceeding SPH and credit application goals.
  2. Thanking each customer by name after a purchase.
  3. Handling transactions efficiently and accurately.
  4. Providing high-level customer service to support Customer Satisfaction Surveys (CSS).
  5. Building and maintaining a customer clientele base.
  6. Recording and protecting personal customer information.
General Responsibilities:
  1. Maintaining store standards in floor and stock areas.
  2. Unpacking and storing new merchandise promptly.
  3. Setting up signage for promotions.
  4. Following procedures for inventory, markdowns, retickets, and RTVs.
  5. Maintaining professional dress standards.
  6. Cooperating with team members and management.
  7. Adhering to store policies on attendance and conduct.
  8. Accepting additional duties during busy times or as requested.
  9. Supporting non-sell duties as assigned.
  10. Communicating openly with management, account executives, and vendors.
Minimum Education & Experience:
  • No formal education requirement.
  • 3-5 years retail experience.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
Knowledge / Skills Requirements:
  • Proficiency with computer, POS systems, and business equipment.
  • Ability to manipulate sensors and apply makeup/treatment to customers.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to push/pull 100-500 pounds when moving stock carts.
  • Ability to reach above and below shoulder level and lift 25-50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as per shift rotation.
