Job summary

U.S. Bank seeks an Estate Settlement Officer to manage post-death settlement accounts and fiduciary activities.

You will review trust documents, coordinate with clients, attorneys, and internal specialists to ensure timely, compliant administration and alignment with beneficiaries’ objectives. The role requires extensive trust/estate experience, strong writing and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate complex asset and tax matters across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Eight+ years of personal trust and/or estate planning experience.
• Advanced knowledge of estate settlement, gifting, income, estate and multi-generational taxation and trusts.
• Excellent writing, speaking, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Administers post-death settlement matters, estates, and fiduciary relationships to meet objectives and beneficiaries’ needs.
• Plans and coordinates settlement activities, assigns responsibilities, monitors progress through completion.
• Resolves trust, tax, banking, investment, and compliance issues under fiduciary duties.
• Maintains relationships with family members and beneficiaries, providing updates and support.
• Manages estate assets: collection, valuation, retention, liquidation or distribution as appropriate.
• Coordinates specialist asset administration with internal and external experts.
• Coordinates federal and state tax filings with internal/external tax teams.
• Identifies and mitigates fiduciary, operational, legal, tax, and reputational risks.
• Manages external relationships (beneficiaries, attorneys, advisors, court personnel).
• Delivers client-focused service and ensures policy compliance throughout settlements.
