Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Estate Planning Paralegal to play a key role in their growing estate planning practice. Responsibilities
- Draft and prepare complex estate planning documents, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and related documents under attorney supervision.
- Prepare amendments, restatements, and supporting estate planning documents.
- Review and quality-check documents for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with North Carolina law before attorney review.
Trust Funding
- Coordinate the transfer of assets into trusts, including real estate, financial accounts, and other assets.
- Work with financial institutions, title companies, and other third parties to complete trust funding.
- Prepare beneficiary designation updates and monitor the completion of funding activities.
- Track and document trust funding progress for active client matters.
Client & Case Management
- Communicate regularly with clients, schedule meetings, and provide updates throughout the estate planning process.
- Prepare client files and documentation for attorney meetings.
- Monitor deadlines and case milestones to ensure timely completion of all matters.
- Maintain organized and accurate client files within the firm's case management system.
- Record billable and non-billable time accurately and promptly.
- Work closely with attorneys and fellow paralegals to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional client service.
- Participate in regular case review and team meetings.
Qualifications
The Ideal Candidate
- Significant experience drafting sophisticated estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and related documents.
- Strong understanding of North Carolina estate planning law and document preparation.
- Experience coordinating trust funding and working with financial institutions and third parties.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Experience using legal case management software.
