Job description

The Estate Planning Paralegal role at Rhame & Gorrell Wealth Management supports the firm's in-house estate planning practice. Working directly with our Board Certified Estate Planning attorney, Maggie Book, JD, you will draft the trusts, wills, powers of attorney, and deeds that bring our clients' plans to life, and then see them through to completion by managing the funding process that so often gets left undone elsewhere. Every plan is customized, every document is reviewed by an attorney before signing, and every detail matters, because our clients are trusting us with decisions that will outlive them.

Why Rhame & Gorrell Wealth Management?

Rhame & Gorrell Wealth Management is an independent, fee-only fiduciary RIA that serves high-income professionals and executives. With deep expertise in the energy and technology industries, our advisors integrate investment management, tax planning, retirement strategies, estate planning, and benefit optimization into a seamless client experience.

Award-Winning Culture: Join a firm recently named one of the "Best RIAs to Work For" by Financial-Planning.com.

  • Draft comprehensive estate planning documents, including revocable and irrevocable trusts, wills, powers of attorney, medical directives, and related ancillary documents, customized to attorney direction rather than assembled from templates.
  • Prepare deeds, assignments, beneficiary designations, and other trust funding documentation.
  • Own the trust funding process end to end, tracking each asset to completion and following up with clients, custodians, and third parties until the plan is fully implemented.
  • Review documents for accuracy, internal consistency, formatting, and legal completeness before they reach the attorney.
  • Identify drafting inconsistencies and potential issues proactively, and raise them before they become problems.
  • Coordinate with wealth managers and the tax team so that estate documents align with each client's broader financial plan.
  • Prepare and organize signing packages, coordinate execution meetings, and notarize documents as needed.
  • Maintain client files, document versions, and matter records with a high degree of organization and confidentiality.
  • Assist with probate and trust administration matters as needed.
  • Communicate with clients professionally and warmly throughout the drafting and funding process.

Qualifications

  • Minimum six years of experience drafting estate planning documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare sophisticated estate planning documents with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with estate planning document drafting software (for example, Clio-Grow, Clio-Manage, Clio-Draft, Lipman's Estate Planning), or the demonstrated ability to learn a comparable platform quickly.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a track record of producing work that requires minimal revision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the judgment to customize documents based on attorney direction.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with the discipline to track many open items to completion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Professional presence and comfort interacting directly with clients.
  • Texas Online Notary Public, or willingness to become one.
  • Paralegal certificate or bachelor's degree preferred; Texas probate, trust administration, and deed recording experience considered a plus.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative culture with highly credentialed peers, including CFP professionals, CPAs, and a Board Certified Estate Planning attorney.
  • We DO NOT complete any contested probates, Dependent Administrations or Guardianships.
  • The chance to work on estate plans that are fully integrated with clients' tax and investment strategies, a rare advantage point in this field.
  • Meaningful ownership of the drafting and funding process, with the support of an experienced team.
  • Investment in professional development, including certifications, conferences, and continuing education.
  • The opportunity to do work that makes a lasting impact on families' lives.
  • 401(k) program with firm contributions up to 8%.
  • Firm-paid health, dental, and vision insurance for employees and families.
  • Generous PTO.
  • Short- and long-term disability.
  • Support for continuing education and professional credentials.
