Are you passionate about supporting high net-worth individuals and business owners with their estate planning needs? If so, Pinion is looking for an experienced estate planning consultant to join our estate, gift, and trust team. This could be the perfect opportunity for you.

At Pinion, our mission is to have impact and make a difference in the lives of our people, clients, and the world we live in. As a specialized consulting firm, we bring an unprecedented level of resources, innovations, and solutions on a global scale. Like a pinion gear system that drives motion, we provide powerful strategies and thought leadership that propels business and legacy forward.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Senior Manager on our Next Gen team, you will serve clients at a high level and lead a team through sophisticated trust and estate planning needs. This is more than basic estate planning - it involves working with various stakeholders including outside attorneys, the client, and other professionals to determine valuation of companies, deed research, cash flow analysis, real estate, mineral interests, entity formation, addressing succession issues, and serving as a key point of contact for all necessary client plan implementations.

Collaborate with leaders across the firm who rely on your expertise to deliver accurate and high-quality planning. You’ll serve a diverse group of business owners with successful backgrounds in various industries to implement estate planning and work on entity reorganization.

What you’ll need for this position:
  • 10+ years of professional experience in trust, estate planning, probate, and fiduciary matters
  • Technical capabilities should include:
    • Experience with passthrough entities (partnerships and S corporations)
    • Experience with entity selection and reorganization, including restructuring, buying, and selling of businesses, and determining ownership
    • Transaction modeling and cash flow planning
    • Understanding of tax reporting requirements
    • Ability to read and understand financial statements and tax returns
    • Ability to review legal documents to ensure proper implementation of ideas
  • Demonstrated success in building and managing professional relationships, with responsibility for accurate and timely client deliverables
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, self-management, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Excel)
  • Curiosity to explore beyond textbooks, ask challenging questions, and use technical skills for client solutions
  • This role is not eligible for sponsorship
  • Must be located in the US
Bonus skills and experience that we value:
  • Juris Doctorate with experience in M&A and contract review
  • Experience with estate and trust compliance returns (Forms 1041, 709, 706)
  • Knowledge of partnership issues (e.g., 754 elections, disguised sales, mergers/divisions)
  • Experience with S corporation issues, reorganizations, mergers, asset transfers, and transition planning for closely held businesses
What’s in it for you:
  • Remote, hybrid, or in-office work environment
  • Path to Principal/Owner for those interested
  • A people-centered culture with fun as a core value
  • Competitive pay, flexibility, and benefits including health, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, 401k/profit sharing, holidays, flexible work arrangements, and paid leave
Compensation:

Estimated range: $125,000 to $200,000, based on experience, skills, location, and other factors.
