Confidential Employer. in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, seeks a JD attorney with estate planning experience to design customized estate plans for individuals and businesses. You will collaborate with senior attorneys on complex tax and wealth transfer strategies.

Meet with clients to understand goals, draft wills and trusts, and develop long-term relationships while progressing toward leadership and partnership within a boutique, mentor‑rich practice.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Licensed or eligible for admission to practice law in South Dakota, with ability to support matters involving Minnesota and Iowa clients.
• 1+ years of tax or estate planning experience.
• Undergraduate degree in finance or accounting required.
• Accounting, taxation, finance, or closely related professional experience strongly valued.
• CPA credential preferred.
• Strong legal drafting, analytical, organizational, and client communication skills.
• Interest in building a long-term career focused on estate planning, tax strategy, and client advisory work.
• Relationship-oriented mindset with an interest in business development and professional networking.

Responsibilities

• Meet with individuals, families, business owners, and agricultural clients to understand their goals and develop customized estate plans.
• Draft wills, trusts, powers of attorney, succession plans, and related estate planning documents.
• Work alongside senior attorneys on advanced estate tax, business succession, asset protection, and wealth transfer strategies.
• Apply tax, accounting, and financial knowledge to complex estate planning matters.
• Develop trusted relationships with clients, accountants, financial advisors, and other professional referral partners.
• Help clients understand sophisticated legal and financial concepts in a clear and approachable way.
• Build and cultivate a book of business as you progress in your career.
• Take on increasing responsibility with a clear opportunity to grow into a future leadership and partnership role.
