Job summary

Biltmore Estate is seeking a Gate Security Officer to help safeguard guests, employees, assets and property while delivering world-class guest service. Starting pay is $17.09 per hour, with shift differentials for 2nd and 3rd shifts and up to 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities include monitoring estate access, enforcing entrance policies with courtesy, documenting events, handling emergencies, assisting guests, and operating screening devices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; AED, CPR, and First Aid certifications helpful
• Minimum 1 year experience in guest services, safety, or security preferred
• Commitment to delivering world-class guest service
• Professional appearance and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Knowledge of a second language is helpful
• Ability to write and complete reports in Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to evaluate situations and exercise good judgment
• Self-starter with problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Willingness to quickly learn Biltmore's systems and protocols

Responsibilities

• Be familiar with the Biltmore Estate and access/key control procedures
• Operate ticket scanning device and enforce entrance policies courteously
• Document security incidents and write reports per protocols
• Respond to emergencies and weather events with appropriate procedures
• Be the first point of contact for guests in a warm, hospitable manner
• Work around heavy traffic and large crowds daily
• Operate security screening devices such as walk-through portals or handheld scanners
