Job summary

San Diego County Credit Union Inc is seeking an Estate Account Specialist in San Diego, CA. You will settle, close or transfer decedent member accounts, review death certificates and legal documents, and serve as primary contact for beneficiaries and legal representatives.

You will ensure regulatory compliance, respond to inquiries via service channels, and maintain accurate, timely processing of decedent accounts while supporting staff and members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in working in a specific decedent account role.
• Ability to work with all levels of management and credit union staff by phone and email.
• Effective organizational and time management skills.
• Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and with large volumes of work, with flexibility.
• Ability to analyze fiduciary, court, and estate documents.
• Knowledge of credit union policies and procedures.
• Detail oriented with ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong planning and prioritization abilities.
• Excellent computer skills, including MS Office.
• Working knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining decedent account procedures for compliance with state and federal laws.
• Answer questions courteously, accurately and promptly.
• Understand probate rules, estate laws and credit union procedures.
• Research and resolve complex situations with clear explanations.
• Provide executive summaries for legal guidance.
• Execute first-call resolution with necessary follow-up.
• Process reviews of court orders, estates, trusts and related documents.
• Track and maintain documentation for problems and regulatory changes.
• Coordinate with departments and external agencies as needed.
• Identify weaknesses and propose process improvements.
• Audit decedent related accounts and procedures as required.
• Communicate effectively with members and staff.
