Job description

Location: Alaska Railroad Operations Warehouse and Car Shop

Supervisor: General Manager

Summary

Receives, stores, and distributes products from the warehouse to train cars.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Read par sheets to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed amongst units.
  2. Convey materials and items from receiving or production areas to train cars.
  3. Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined criteria such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  4. Sort and store perishable goods in refrigerators and freezers.
  5. Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distribute items to train cars.
  6. Mark materials with identifying information.
  7. Open bales, crates, and other containers.
  8. Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
  9. Count items for distribution to train.
  10. Drive vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to train.
  11. Maintain inventory records.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

State of Alaska Food Handlers Card; TAP Certification; First Aid and CPR Certifications; and Driver’s License with a good driving record.
