Qualifications

• Demonstrable ability to speak, write, and understand a foreign language used in a specific school setting.
• High school diploma or equivalent; AA degree or higher, or 60 semester credits, or passing score on ParaPro Assessment Test.
• Basic knowledge of general computer use.

Responsibilities

• Share in all teaching responsibilities except those reserved by law for certified teachers.
• Assist in the supervision of students as assigned.
• Perform clerical duties as assigned.
• Assist in creating a safe learning environment.
• Implement classroom activities as directed.
• Assist staff with behavioral management.
• Assist with development of instructional materials.
• Assist with preparation of accurate records and reports.
• Assist with assessing student progress.
• Communicate with staff and parents.
• Translate and/or interpret home/school communication as needed.
• Use specialized equipment as required.
• Intervene in disciplinary situations as appropriate.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding school matters.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff and vendors.
• Participate in workshops and training sessions.
• Keep supervisor informed of potential problems.
• Respond to inquiries promptly.
• Follow school policies and procedures.
