Job summary

The School District of Lee County is seeking an Instructional Support, ESOL at Varsity Lakes Middle School in Lehigh Acres, FL. This role supports English language learners and assists in language assessments and classroom activities.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ParaPro test or 48 college hours, and bilingual ability in at least one target language. A 7-hour day, 187-day schedule is noted with S03 pay grade.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• ParaPro assessment test or 48 college hours completed.
• Bilingual in at least one target language such as Spanish, French, Creole, Portuguese.
• Any appropriate combination of education, experience or certifications may be considered.
• Associate’s degree (preferred).
• One year experience working with children in a public school district (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assist in administering tests in students' native languages or English.
• Assist ESL students to transition to an English-speaking environment.
• Support instructional process with targeted language support and lesson plans.
• Prepare, organize, and use instructional aids and technology; handle clerical tasks.
• Monitor progress of students who have exited the ESOL program.
• Assist in involving bilingual parents in Open House and conferences.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
