Job summary

Sunnyside Community Services, Inc. seeks a Counselor to support ESOL students by connecting them with resources, improving attendance and retention through individualized assessments, and collaborating with instructors and Adult and Immigrant Services.

The role focuses on helping students access public benefits, healthcare, legal services, and other supports. The Counselor will manage a caseload of about 20 ESOL students per week, maintain confidential records, and coordinate workshops and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.
• 2-3 years relevant experience preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Connect with ESOL students one-on-one to determine needs and provide advisement.
• Manage caseload of at least 20 ESOL students per week and maintain confidential records.
• Develop individualized needs assessments and refer participants to internal or external specialists.
• Collaborate with instructors to improve study habits, social skills, and time management.
• Coordinate workshops with AIS or partners to address legal, health, and social service needs.
• Support data collection and reporting using internal databases and tools.
