Job Description

This is a part-time position.

Position Purpose

The ESOL Program Coordinator provides leadership, oversight, and support for the district’s English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program. This position ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, supports instructional quality, and promotes equitable academic outcomes for multilingual learners. The coordinator works collaboratively with school administrators, teachers, and families to implement effective language acquisition programs aligned with Georgia standards.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Valid Georgia teaching certificate with ESOL endorsement.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience, including experience with English Learners.
  • Experience in instructional leadership, coaching, or program coordination preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing federal programs (Title III).
  • Experience with multilingual learner compliance and audits.
  • Leadership certification (L or higher) preferred.
Performance Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the district-wide ESOL program in alignment with Georgia Department of Educationguidelines and federal Title III requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Every Student Succeeds Act, including accurate identification, placement, and exit of English Learners (ELs).
  • Oversee administration and data management of the ACCESS for ELLs.
  • Provide instructional leadership and support to ESOL teachers, including coaching, modeling, and professional learning.
  • Collaborate with principals and instructional leaders to ensure effective implementation of language support services across all schools.
  • Monitor student progress using state and local data (e.g., Georgia Milestones Assessment System) and adjust programming accordingly.
  • Coordinate translation and interpretation services to support family engagement and communication.
  • Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and audit readiness for all ESOL-related compliance requirements.
  • Lead program evaluation efforts and provide regular reports to district leadership.
  • Facilitate district and school-level ESOL committees and stakeholder engagement opportunities.
  • Coordinate parent notifications and ensure language access for families
  • Provide ongoing training and support for teachers and administrators on ESOL strategies and compliance
  • Provide meaningful parent and family engagement to enhance LIEP
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of ESOL instructional strategies, second language acquisition, and culturally responsive teaching.
  • Familiarity with Georgia ESOL rules, procedures, and state reporting systems.
  • Ability to analyze student performance data and drive instructional improvements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to provide effective professional learning and coaching to adult learners.
  • Knowledge of federal programs and grant management.
