Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must have 48 accredited college credits verifiable with transcript or pass a state approved assessment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in another language if job requires bilingual duties.

Responsibilities

  • Spend 6.5 hours in the classroom assisting students with lessons under supervision.
  • Assist students and reinforce concepts for individuals or small groups.
  • Work with teachers to modify activities to meet individual student needs and develop academic language.
  • Perform formal and/or informal assessments after training by ESOL or district staff.
  • Assist teachers in monitoring, data collection, and maintaining records of student progress.
  • Maintain learning areas and instructional materials; support classroom organization.
  • Display patience and understanding while supervising children and addressing diverse needs.
  • Document parent contacts and coordinate with appropriate staff regarding services.
  • Travel between schools may be required; assist at events and conferences as needed.
