Job summary

GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking an ESME Application Engineer to lead the design and optimization of the Energy Store components and their main enclosure. This role focuses on safe, high‑quality battery systems and hands-on development with cross‑functional teams.

You will drive manufacturing processes, develop quality procedures, perform root cause analyses, and create work instructions while collaborating with safety and design partners to ensure Built-In Quality and

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years in battery pack assembly engineering.
  • Experience programming industrial robots.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (CATIA/NX/SolidWorks).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to lead projects independently.
  • Automotive/high-performance industry experience is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and optimization of ES/ESME manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure personnel safety in production processes.
  • Develop in-process and end-of-line quality procedures with QA.
  • Contribute to design process to achieve Built-In Quality.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and document learnings.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing operation work instructions.
  • Collaborate with ERS Assembly Manager and HV Safety Supervisor on standards.
