Job summary

Lansing School District is hiring a 6-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in Lansing, MI. The role focuses on delivering ESL/ELD instruction to multilingual learners, aligning curriculum with WIDA standards, and differentiating instruction to support language acquisition and academic achievement.

The teacher will collaborate with administrators, teachers, families, and staff to provide a safe, nurturing learning environment and to ensure the best education experience for ML students

Qualifications

• Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with High School ESL endorsement (required).
• Successful teaching experience with Multilingual Learners (MLs).
• Ability to support and promote academic instruction in the four domains of the English language.
• Demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ESL/ELD instruction to Multilingual Learner students by language proficiency levels to support English acquisition and achievement.
• Align curriculum to WIDA standards and pedagogy.
• Use data to differentiate instruction.
• Build relationships with students and parents to foster a safe, welcoming learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation for evaluation and progress monitoring.
• Collaborate with staff to welcome new MLs and support cognitive, social, and academic development.
