Global Educational Excellence (GEE) is seeking a 6-12 ESL Teacher for Riverside Academy West in Dearborn, MI to design and deliver language acquisition support for students whose first language is not English. The ELL Teacher uses evidence-based strategies to advance academic language proficiency and content access, providing direct instruction, co-teaching, and pull-in/pull-out support.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, Michigan teaching certificate with ESL/ELL or Bilingual

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an ESL/ELL or Bilingual endorsement (NZ, NE, or equivalent) as defined by the Michigan State Board of Education.
  • CAP eligibility may be determined at the time of application for enrollment in GEE's Career Advancement Program (CAP).
  • Satisfactory criminal background check

Responsibilities

  • Assess student language proficiency using WIDA screener and ACCESS assessments; maintain progress records for all ELL students.
  • Provide direct instruction, co-teaching, and push-in/pull-out language support aligned with WIDA standards.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to differentiate content-area instruction for English learners.
  • Identify and enroll students with Limited English Proficiency; maintain ELL program records per MDE requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between families, school staff, and community resources.
  • Participate in Child Study Team meetings and professional development

Education

Bachelor's degree
Michigan teaching certificate with an ESL/ELL or Bilingual endorsement
