Job summary

Katy Independent School District's HASKETT JUNIOR HIGH in Katy, Texas seeks an ESL Aide to support emergent bilingual students. You will collaborate with the Campus EB Specialist, ESL teacher and core content-area staff to provide ESL services, administer tests, maintain confidentiality, and help manage a flexible schedule.

This is a 187-day, non-exempt paraprofessional role (Pay Grade IS03) starting immediately; requires college hours or ParaPro test; a paraprofessional certificate is required

Qualifications

• College hours for Title I campus 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test.
• College hours, high school diploma or GED required for Non-Title I campus.
• Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed.
• Ability to work with students and staff.
• Ability to manage a flexible schedule.
• School experience or volunteer experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work within deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with core content-area teachers to meet EB students’ needs.
• Facilitate targeted small group instruction based on language levels.
• Implement ESL program model in alignment with district policies.
• Administer oral and written tests for EB students as needed.
• Maintain student confidentiality.
• Participate in professional learning activities for growth.
• Other duties as assigned.
