Job summary

Sierra College seeks an ESL instructor to provide lecture and laboratory instruction, develop curriculum, and evaluate student performance in English as a Second Language.

The role involves coordinating with the Department and administration to ensure transferability of ESL courses within CSU/UC systems and participating in shared governance. This is a full-time faculty position with a 175-day contract and strong emphasis on equity and professional development.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to develop and revise ESL curriculum.
• Ability to coordinate with part-time instructors for consistency.
• Experience advising students and supporting academic success.

Responsibilities

• Lecture and laboratory instruction in ESL to develop curriculum.
• Coordinate with administration to ensure transferability within CSU/UC systems.
• Prepare syllabi, handouts, and visual aids for lectures and labs.
• Evaluate student performance with quizzes and exams; assign grades.
• Engage in shared governance and department meetings to improve ESL programs.
