Job summary

Horn Elementary in Houston, part of the Alief Independent School District, seeks an ESL Instructional & Compliance Paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year to support Emergent Bilingual students and assist classroom teachers.

This on-site role focuses on maintaining LPAC records, data entry, and helping with instruction, testing and monitoring, with a 187-day calendar and salary range $24,212–$32,325 per year.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED; qualify for appropriate state paraprofessional certification.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to assist in instructing, supporting and monitoring reading, writing, and mathematics to Emergent Bilingual students and Newcomers; communication skills.
• Experience: None.

Responsibilities

• Program Management: Assist in improving student achievement by supporting at-risk students and staff; help prepare instructional materials and classroom displays; maintain orderly classroom; manage equipment; maintain LPAC files; enter and correct Emergent Bilingual data; prepare LPAC meeting agendas; administer language and achievement tests; orient substitutes.
• Student Management: supervise students in and out of class; inform teachers of students' special needs.
• Other: Maintain confidentiality; participate in staff development; attend meetings and events; follow safety protocols; maintain technology competence; implement alternative instruction methods; perform other duties as assigned.
