Job summary

Texans Can Academies is seeking an Educational Aide to assist in preparing and managing classroom activities for ESL learners and perform administrative tasks. The role supports teachers by working with individual students or small groups and by maintaining records and reports.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, with an associate degree or higher preferred, and may need a Texas educational aide certificate within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or higher preferred.
• Texas educational aide certificate or must obtain within 90 days of employment by demonstrated competency through a state or local assessment.
• Some experience working with children.

Responsibilities

• Work with individual students or small groups to conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
• Assist teachers in providing instruction for students identified as Emergent Bilingual learners in an inclusive setting.
• Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Keep the teacher informed of any special needs or problems of individual students.
• Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports.
• Assist in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom.
• Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of classroom equipment.
• Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as required.
• Work in collaboration with other faculty and staff to ensure effective communication and coordination.
• Assist in monitoring students to ensure an effective learning environment.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Attend staff development as directed by the principal.
• Performs other duties as assigned
