Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Valid Alabama professional educator certificate.
• Certification in English as a Second Language (ESL).
• Minimum of three years classroom experience.
• Meet the suitability criteria for employment under Alabama Child Protection Act.
• Alternatives to qualifications may be required by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
• Conducts in-service training for teachers and staff regarding ELLs and ESL strategies.
• Schedules ESL team meetings to review placement and program decisions.
• Monitors the academic progress of all ELL students and recommends instructional modifications.
• Provides ESL instruction to K-12 English Language Learners.
• Uses technology to plan and deliver instruction and to facilitate student learning.
• Keeps accurate and up-to-date student folders and records.
