Job summary

Sampson County Schools is seeking an ESL Teacher Assistant for Hobbton Middle in Newton Grove, NC. The role supports English Language Learners across the curriculum and assists the ESL teacher with classroom activities and student supervision.

Starting date is immediate with a ten-month work year. Requires an Associate degree or 48 semester hours and a bus license within the first year; bilingual preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 48 semester hours from an accredited college or university, or Community College TA course (at least 96 contact hours) with a passing WorkKeys score.
• Bus license required within first year of employment.
• Bilingual preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow all rules, policies and procedures of Sampson County Schools, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to English as a Second Language.
• Work with individual English Language Learners or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills.
• Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material based on individual ELL needs and abilities.
• Assist ELLs with digital learning in the classroom.
• Monitor student behavior and help maintain discipline in the classroom.
• Maintain confidentiality and safety of students at all times.
