Job summary

Colorado Mountain College invites qualified individuals to join as adjunct faculty to support student learning using college resources and technology. The role emphasizes teaching and facilitating classroom work while engaging in scholarly activities and service within the community.

Successful candidates will hold a relevant master’s degree or equivalent, have teaching experience, and demonstrate strong communication, organization, and technical skills to offer quality instruction and mentoring

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or Master’s with 18 graduate credits in related field.
  • Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor.
  • Higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • An equivalent/applicable combination of education and experience to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position required.
  • Special skills or abilities directly applicable to the position: knowledge with pedagogy, teaching experience equating to two years, strong background in computers and technology, excellent organizational skills, general office skills (filing, typing, answering the phone, customer oriented and attention to detail), excellent communication and interpersonal skills, willingness to learn, ability to research and effectively analyze data, work independently toward established goals and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include teaching course load as assigned, evaluating courses and assessing student learning, meeting established course, program and learning outcomes, complying with guidelines and policies, maintaining office hours per established standards, developing rapport with students, assisting with and participating in advising, orientation and registration activities.
  • CMC Faculty are expected to engage in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and enhance learning. Service activities such as campus and college committees, relevant projects, mentoring peers, participation in assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention.
  • All faculty acknowledge that final payment of any contract may be withheld until submission of grades is complete.
  • To teach classes as assigned by designated supervisor.
  • To prepare appropriate lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved course objectives.
  • To develop and submit course outlines and syllabi to appropriate supervisor.
  • To assist with development of measurable course objectives and plans.
  • To develop a relationship with students & staff that is professional and encourages teacher/student communication.
  • To maintain accurate course records of students and complete course forms as required.
  • Be available for student consultation.
  • To assist in the recruitment of students, as appropriate.
  • When agreed upon, and as appropriate, to assist in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance.
  • To represent the college in a professional manner throughout the communities and college district by promoting a positive public image.
  • To engage in professional development as required for credentialing.
