Job summary

IMIA, LLC is seeking an ESH Hazardous Waste/Material Coordinator to manage HW/HM handling and storage for shipboard projects. You will ensure compliance with environmental policies and inspect storage areas to maintain safety standards.

The role requires reading regulatory documents, applying procedures, and coordinating with crew and customers to meet project goals. Regular on-site work aboard ships and in dry dock environments is expected.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of HW/HM and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents like SDS and HW/HM rules.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff and customer personnel.
  • Ability to follow instructions furnished orally, written, or diagrammed.
  • General knowledge of federal and State local regulations in the marine industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage HW/HM to ensure compliance with customer, company, state, federal policies and regulations.
  • Conduct Daily & Weekly Inspections of HW/HM storage areas.
  • Exercise independent judgment and attention to detail in job execution.
  • Plan and accomplish goals using experience and established guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Title: ESH Hazardous Waste/Material Coordinator

Reports to: ESH Manager, Project Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Pay Range: $25.00-$35.00 per hour DOE

FT / PT Status: Full Time

Summary

Responsible for all aspects of Hazardous Waste/Material (HW/HM) management, handling and storage requirements for International Marine and Industrial Applicators, LLC (IMIA) during the accomplishment of work.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage and process HW/HM to ensure compliance with customer, company, State, Federal and environmental policies, and regulations.
  • Conduct and document Daily & Weekly Inspections of HW/HM Storage Areas
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Primary job function typically requires exercising independent judgment and attention to detail.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Attributes
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures with regards to HW/HM and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Must be able to read and interpret documents relevant to customer, company, local, state and federal safety & environmental regulations as necessary, such as Waste Information Sheets, Safety Data Sheets & HW/HM rules and regulations, procedures, etc.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively and productively with other employees and facility owner/customer personnel
  • Must be able to carry out instructions furnished in oral, written, or diagram form.
  • Must have general working knowledge of federal and State local regulations within the marine industry
Education And Experience
  • Formal or informal on the job training and 2-year experience in the Marine Coating Industry or Maritime HW/HM Industry
  • High School diploma or equivalent
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to walk; frequently required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, occasionally required to sit; required to reach with hands and arms, use hands to feel, grip, or handle; regularly required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, or more infrequently;
  • Required use of respirators during HW/HM Processing when required.
  • Most work performed will be onboard a ship, in a dry dock or shipyard under fast-paced conditions.
  • Frequently requires overtime.
  • Consistent exposure to outdoor elements, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals and dusty conditions.
