The ESG Stewardship Analyst role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Capital Group’s investment process as a member of the Global Stewardship and Engagement (GSE) team, a specialized subset of the ESG team. This position combines proxy research, engagement activities, and governance research to support informed investment decision-making and responsible stewardship of client assets. The Stewardship Analyst is responsible for conducting comprehensive proxy research that culminates in proxy voting recommendations presented to the Investment Group. Additionally, the role involves engaging with portfolio companies on stewardship priorities and managing proxy voting operational responsibilities. The analyst will produce and publish high-quality, investment-relevant governance research throughout the year, independent of proxy-focused work, contributing to the broader knowledge base and market understanding of governance best practices. The analyst in this role works collaboratively with Investment Analysts, Portfolio Managers, and ESG team members to conduct sector- and industry-specific research on governance best practices and standards. The position demonstrates strong working knowledge of Capital Group’s proxy voting guidelines and operates with increasing autonomy as experience develops. The individual displays a comprehensive understanding of the proxy voting and engagement cycle and may represent Capital Group at industry events to share insights, best practices, and process enhancements with the stewardship community.
