Capital Region Educational Service District 113 is seeking a Prevention-Intervention Professional to support True North Student Assistance programs in Mason County, WA. This 180-day/year role involves prevention, intervention, and referrals for students and families impacted by behavioral health conditions, promoting a safe and drug-free learning environment.

Responsibilities

Screens, interventions, and referrals to identify behavioral health issues in compliance with laws and policies.
Educate staff, students, and parents on programs including drug/alcohol awareness and mental health promotion.
Establish a visible campus presence to increase awareness and identification of behavioral health issues.
Facilitate behavioral health intervention groups focusing on substance use and mental health.
Maintain student records and intervention files for documentation and compliance.
Participate in committees and activities (e.g., Student Assistance Teams, CORE) to support services.
Perform record keeping, data entry, and scheduling to ensure program success.
Respond to inquiries and act as liaison between school and systems partners (juvenile justice, behavioral health).
Utilize evidence-based practices (motivational interviewing, TRAILS, Project SUCCESS) for interventions.

Purpose Statement

The job of Prevention-Intervention Professional is done for the purpose of working with the True North Student Assistance program providing prevention and intervention, and referral services for students and their families who are impacted by behavioral health conditions; and assisting in the development of a safe and drug free learning environment for learning and teaching.

Essential Functions

The Prevention-Intervention Professional conducts a variety of actions such as screenings, interventions, and referrals for the purpose of identifying and addressing behavioral health issues in compliance with applicable laws, True North policies, and performance standards.

The position educates school staff, students, and parents on a variety of programs and services including drug and alcohol awareness programs and mental health promotion campaigns for the purpose of increasing awareness, identifying issues, providing referral, and coordinating service delivery.

The professional establishes a visible, accessible presence on campus at assigned locations for the purpose of increasing student awareness and identification of behavioral health issues.

The role facilitates behavioral health intervention groups focused on substance use and mental health for the purpose of resolving identified behavioral health concerns and following applicable laws, True North policies, and performance standards.

The position maintains individual student records and intervention files for the purpose of documenting student activities in compliance with federal, state, and program requirements.

The professional participates in a variety of committees and activities such as Student Assistance Teams, CORE, re-entry conferences, and assessment reviews for the purpose of providing information in the area of behavioral health prevention, intervention, and referral to treatment.

The role performs record keeping, data entry, and clerical functions including student records, program materials, and scheduling for the purpose of providing records and materials necessary for program success.

The position responds to inquiries for the purpose of solving problems and providing information and referral.

The professional serves as a liaison between the school and other systems partners such as juvenile justice and behavioral health treatment for the purpose of facilitating student support services, continuity of care and communication between participants.

The role utilizes evidenced-based and promising practices such as motivational interviewing, Project SUCCESS, and TRAILS for the purpose of providing effective behavioral health interventions.

The position assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

The professional performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Skills: The position requires skills to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include applying assessment instruments, operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications, preparing and maintaining accurate records and case management, and utilizing group presentation skills.

Knowledge: The role requires knowledge to perform basic math including calculations using fractions, percents, and ratios; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include alcohol and drug abuse state and federal confidentiality laws, generally accepted behavioral health screening, intervention, treatment and recovery process for adolescents and families, substance use prevention and mental health promotion, physical and emotional development of adolescents, and mental health issues.

Ability: The position requires ability to schedule activities, meetings, and events; gather, collate, and classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances, work with data utilizing defined but different processes, and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals, work with similar types of data, and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines, and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Responsibilities include working under direct supervision using standardized routines, providing information and advising others, and operating within a defined budget. Work Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
