Job summary

Puget Sound ESD seeks a Consultant, Behavioral Health to help increase access to behavioral health services for students and families. The role focuses on coordinating cross-system efforts, supporting suicide prevention programs, and providing threat assessment consultation within school districts.

The position reports to an Assigned Administrator and invites collaboration with educators, families, and community partners to advance equity and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, Education, Human Services, or a closely related field with related experience.
  • Knowledge of behavioral health systems, MTSS, suicide prevention and intervention, crisis response, threat assessment, and community resources serving children, youth and families.
  • Experience coordinating with schools, community agencies, or teams to improve behavioral health services and outcomes.
  • Ability to coordinate programs, maintain electronic records, prepare reports and materials, analyze service needs, and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to using a racial equity lens.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Google Workspace.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate regional cross-system efforts to expand access to behavioral health services for students and families.
  • Assist school districts in developing and implementing suicide prevention and behavioral health supports.
  • Provide level 1 and level 2 threat assessment consultation for behavioral health.

Consultant, Behavioral Health resides within Student Support Services and is made up of many programs and projects designed to assist educators and caring community members to improve student connection by supporting the safety and well-being of students. Our programs effectively address the emotional, social, behavioral, safety, and health needs of students through valuing the strength in connection, engagement, and support.

The job of Consultant, Behavioral Health is done for the purpose/s of increasing and supporting access to behavioral health services and supports for students and families by facilitating regional cross-system coordination and to support school districts to develop and implement comprehensive suicide prevention, behavioral health supports for students, level 1 and level 2 threat assessment consultation regarding behavioral health, and district policies and procedure for emotional and behavioral health needs.

PSESD is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts and state approved charter and private schools in Washington. Serving over 39% of Washington’s K-12 public school students, our agency provides critical services designed to ensure that our students are ready to enter school, achieve at high levels in the K-12 system, and succeed in postsecondary endeavors.   • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Public Health, Education, Human Services, or a closely related field, and yearsof related experience supporting behavioral health, school-based mental health, youth services, or community health programs OR Associate's degree with progressively responsible related experience may substitute for the Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health systems, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), suicide prevention and intervention, crisis response, threat assessment, and community behavioral health resources serving children, youth, and families.
  • Experience providing consultation, technical assistance, training, or coordination with schools, community agencies, or multidisciplinary teams to improve behavioral health services and student outcomes.
  • Ability to coordinate programs, maintain electronic records, prepare reports and resource materials, analyze service needs, and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to using a racial equity lens
  • Proficient in using technology tools and platform e.g. MS Office Suit, Google suit or other communication tools.
  • Experience working in a school setting.
  • Experience facilitating cross-system partnerships, professional learning communities, and training for educators, behavioral health providers, and community partners.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff and applying trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and antiracist practices to improve equitable access to behavioral health services.
