Job summary

North Carolina Department of State Treasurer is seeking an Accounting Technician III to manage Escheat and statewide accounting tasks. The role involves AR, bank reconciliation, cash management, and general ledger work in coordination with UPD, SLGFD, and other state offices.

Essential duties include month-end closes, daily deposits, and producing ACFR-related reports. Some on-site work is required during crises; a hybrid telework option is available.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability at intermediate level using state or local accounting systems to enter, track and reconcile financial transactions.
• Demonstrated experience processing checks.
• Demonstrated experience with Excel and Word.
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Vendor Payment Processing - Manual, Deposit of Checks and other Deposits, Premiums and claims refund daily deposits.
• Receiving, certifying and recording Unclaimed Property Division daily deposits and returns.
• Month-end close-out including balancing of accounts and bank reconciliation for Unclaimed Property Division.
• Prepares monthly and annual reporting for Unclaimed Property Division fund including ACFR portion.
• Prepares Forecast document containing financial results and the annual Escheats Collections worksheet.
