Job summary

Nationwide, a Fortune 100 company, seeks a Specialist, Accounting – Escheat Operations to lead complex accounting tasks and regulatory reporting. You will gather, analyze and interpret financial data for regulatory agencies and internal management, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

The role requires GAAP/STAT expertise, strong communication, and project management skills. This exempt, hybrid position offers opportunities to improve processes and collaborate across teams within Nationwide Finance.

Qualifications

• GAAP and/or STAT knowledge and/or regulatory requirements.
• Complex financial statement preparation including consolidation of companies/subsidiaries.
• Principles of taxation and related impact on financial statements.
• Accounting systems and business software versatility.
• Verbal and written communication skills for internal/external contacts.

Responsibilities

• Performs a lead role in establishing and implementing new or revised accounting policies and procedures.
• Prepares and analyzes sophisticated financial and regulatory statements for the company and/or business areas.
• Develops and submits sophisticated accounting transactions for accurate reporting.
• Ensures completeness and accuracy of reports and data provided to clients.
• Recommends actions when analysis reveals unfavorable trends or deviations.
• Keeps informed of GAAP/STAT and regulatory changes affecting reporting.
• Leads development of new/enhanced systems within assigned areas.
• Prepares complex pro forma data for new requirements.
• Assists management in applying financial data to solve problems.
• Prepares state and supplemental reporting.
• Prepares information for auditors and regulators.
• Prepares special reports and presentations.
• May lead a group of accountants on projects.
