Job description

Trapped in the Upstate is looking for an energetic, outgoing Game Host to join our team in our Spartanburg location. This person will drive customer satisfaction by hosting our epic escape room games, giving hints and clues, and addressing any concerns that may arise.

The ideal candidate has a customer-first mindset and aims to deliver high-quality service in every customer interaction.

Candidates MUST be available to work at least 3 Saturdays a month as well as Holidays (excluding Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day), and during Greenville/Spartanburg County School breaks.

Responsibilities:

  1. Greet customers in a friendly and upbeat manner, confirm or complete their booking using Resova, and ensure they are ready for their game.
  2. Carry out the pre-game briefing, following the game-specific script and ensuring all key points are covered from the game-specific checklist.
  3. Supervise games as needed from beginning to end, either remotely using CCTV and a typed or spoken clueing system.
  4. Complete the game experience in a friendly and upbeat manner with a personalized de-brief, taking a team photo, asking for reviews, inviting return visits, and escorting out.
  5. Reset the game room as needed to the exact specifications of the game-specific reset list, double-checking that it is ready for the next game.
  6. Cover reception duties and handle face-to-face or telephone bookings or inquiries between games, and assist in the daily opening and closing of the site.

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Cleaning game rooms as required, including vacuuming, dusting all in-reach surfaces, and wiping down all props and locks.
  2. Making emergency repairs and replacements to damaged or broken game items and reporting any potential wear and tear to the manager.
  3. Distributing brochures to the public and attending company stands at exhibitions.
  4. Participating in the preparation, building, and testing of new sites and games.

Responsibilities and Delegated Authorities:

  1. Processing payments for bookings in cash or by card using the Resova system and referring any requests for refunds to the manager.
  2. Ensuring a safe working environment for self, other staff, and customers by addressing immediate H&S issues and reporting potential risks to the manager.

Requirements:

**Candidates MUST be available to work nights (up to 12am), weekends, and Holidays as needed. Our OPEN Holidays include MLK Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve/Day. Availability on these days and during GCS school breaks is expected. Hours may range from 0-20 per week and are highly variable based on business needs.**

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Passion for escape rooms or games with a commitment to excellent service
  • Excellent time-management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for the entire shift
  • Ability to work at short notice (within 1 hour) is strongly preferred
