Kasson-Mantorville Schools is seeking a caring, flexible, and collaborative K–4 Special Education Paraprofessional to support elementary students with disabilities across a variety of educational settings.

This position provides an opportunity to work with students across multiple grade levels and support needs. The paraprofessional will work under the direction of licensed special education and general education staff to help students access instruction, participate in classroom and school activities, develop independence, and make meaningful progress toward their educational goals.

We believe students with IEPs are general education students first. Special education is a service—not a separate place. Our paraprofessionals are an important part of creating an inclusive school experience where every student belongs.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Support students in grades K–4 with academic, behavioral, social, communication, developmental, and personal care needs.
  • Provide individual and small-group instructional support under the direction of licensed staff, including clarifying directions, reinforcing skills, adapting assignments, and supporting task completion.
  • Implement IEP accommodations, modifications, behavioral supports, and other interventions as directed.
  • Support students in general education classrooms and other educational settings while promoting participation and independence using the least amount of assistance necessary for success.
  • Supervise and support students during classroom activities, transitions, arrival/dismissal, lunch, recess, specials, field trips, assemblies, community activities, and other school experiences.
  • Observe, collect, and document student performance and behavioral data as directed by the special education team.
  • Assist with personal care and self-help skills, including dressing, feeding, hygiene, and toileting, when applicable and appropriately trained.
  • Safely assist with student mobility, lifting, transfers, positioning, and use of adaptive or assistive equipment as directed and appropriately trained.
  • Maintain student and family confidentiality and build positive, respectful relationships with students.
  • Collaborate professionally with teachers, related service providers, administrators, and other staff.
  • Participate in required training and follow district policies, procedures, and staff direction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicants need to be “Highly Qualified” by meeting at least one of the following criteria:

  • Have 64 post secondary credits
  • Have a passing score on the Para Pro assessment
  • Have passing score of 332 on the ParaPathways assessment
  • Have at least 3 years experience as a Special Education Paraprofessional
