Job summary

DUF6-MCS LLC seeks an experienced ES&H leader to provide direction to Environment, Safety and Health personnel across safety, industrial hygiene, radiological, and environmental functions for the DUF6 project. The role ensures compliance with federal and state regulations and company procedures, guiding hazard analyses and safety program development.

The position requires a BS degree in a related field, 5+ years of experience (3+ in nuclear), and the ability to obtain HSPD-12 credential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in radiation protection, safety, health, or related field.
  • 5+ years of related experience; equivalent education/experience accepted.
  • 3+ years nuclear experience; DOE nuclear experience preferred.
  • Experience in two of the four disciplines: safety, health, environmental, radiation control.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain HSPD-12 credential.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise ES&H personnel in safety, industrial hygiene, radiological, and environmental domains.
  • Review and approve surveys and reports.
  • Direct development of hazard analyses.
  • Oversee use of radiological and industrial hygiene monitoring equipment.
  • Ensure safety aspects of plant operations meet written plans and procedures.
  • Develop and comment on ES&H procedures.
  • Perform industrial hygiene, radiological safety, and environmental assessments and walk-downs.
  • Stop or suspend unsafe work to protect personnel safety or environmental risk.
  • Ensure documents are filed and archived retrievably.

Position Overview:

Under general supervision responsible for providing technical direction to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) personnel in the functional areas of safety, industrial hygiene, radiological, and environmental in order to achieve compliance with organizational, and federal and state regulatory requirements at the DUF6 project. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:

Functional:
  • Supervises daily work activities of ES&H personnel in the functional areas of safety, industrial hygiene, radiological, and environmental
  • Reviews and approves surveys and reports
  • Directs the development hazard analyses
  • Oversees use of various radiological and industrial hygiene monitoring equipment
  • Ensures all safety aspects of plant operations are performed in accordance with written work plans, procedures, programs, and/or protocols
  • Develops and comments on procedures relating to the ES&H organization
  • Performs industrial hygiene, radiological safety and industrial safety assessments and walk-downs
  • Stops/Suspends work of unsafe conditions potentially affecting personnel safety or environmental risk
  • Ensures documents are filed and archived in a retrievable manner

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in radiation protection, safety, health or industrial hygiene, environmental engineering, or technical school in a related field or equivalent
  • 5+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required
  • 3+ years of nuclear experience (DOE nuclear experience preferred)
  • Experience in two of the four following disciplines – safety, health, environmental, radiation control
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) credential
