Job summary

Ny Creates is seeking an ERT Technician to lead and respond to site emergencies, including chemical, fire, and medical events. You will maintain readiness via training, inspections, and equipment upkeep, supporting team development and documentation while working with internal and external partners.

The role requires a relevant Associate degree, current HZWOPER certification or equivalent experience, and ability to perform high-stress tasks with a non-traditional schedule including overnight

Qualifications

• Must have current HZWOPER certification or 2–3 years in HAZWOPER or Emergency services.
• Military experience can substitute for HAZWOPER or Emergency Service experience.
• Strong understanding of Incident Command System and ALL-Hazards approach.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with initiative.
• Strong prioritization and project management skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and respond to site emergency incidents (chemical, fire, medical).
• Maintain readiness through training, inspections, and equipment upkeep.
• Document incidents and maintain records (computer and paper).
• Provide direction and training to assigned team members.
• Coordinate with internal and external response partners.
• Perform hazardous, non-routine tasks with process materials.
• Maintain equipment stocks and instrument calibration.
• Oversee life safety and equipment readiness, including decontamination tasks.
