Job summary

The Research Foundation for SUNY in Albany, NY is seeking an ERT Technician to lead and respond to site emergency incidents, including chemical, fire, and medical events. You will maintain readiness through training and equipment upkeep, while supporting team development and accurate documentation.

Role requires handling hazardous, non-routine tasks with process materials, coordinating with internal and external partners, and operating under high stress.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in science or engineering, or related field
• HAZWOPER certification or 2–3 years in emergency services
• Experience applying the Incident Command System (ICS) using ALL-Hazards approach
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Strong prioritization and project management skills
• Proficient in MS Office and written/oral communication

Responsibilities

• Lead and respond to site emergency incidents (chemical, fire, medical) and maintain readiness through training and inspections
• Support team development, ensure accurate documentation, and collaborate with response partners
• Perform hazardous, non-routine tasks involving process materials in high-stress environments
• Initiate and manage effective response to site-wide emergencies
• Maintain equipment stocks and instrument calibration
• Provide direction and training to assigned team members
• Work with internal and external response partners
• Document incidents and maintain records (computer and paper)
• Handle hazardous tasks including decontamination and chemical change-outs
