Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Project Manager to plan, direct, and coordinate large-scale projects in the United States. This role oversees Field Engineers and Technicians, ensuring goals are met within timeframes and profitability while mentoring junior staff.

You will coordinate with Service Center Managers, develop staffing plans, and maintain schedules and budgets across multiple project phases. Strong NEC knowledge and travel readiness are essential.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code and related standards.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Latista, and Google Docs.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, and travel up to months.
  • Experience coordinating with clients, contractors, and field personnel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and develop project management processes.

  • Direct supervisory responsibility for Field Engineers and Technicians during assigned periods.
  • Develops large-scale project management processes and routines for use throughout the Company.
  • Mentors junior personnel and teaches good project management practices.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Plans, directs, and coordinates activities of designated large-scale projects. May be overseeing a single or multiple projects as the situation allows. Will be responsible for ensuring the goals and objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and profitability by performing the following duties, personally and through assigned Field Engineers and Technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Confers with Service Center Manager or Region Director to outline work plan and assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project and arranges for assignment of project personnel.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Reviews status reports and other documentation prepared by project personnel, clients and other contractors and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares and presents project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Gathers and develops back-up material for change order requests.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
  • Coordinates project activities with clients and other contractors (as required).

REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong knowledge of the National Electric Code and various industry standards such as OSHA and NFPA.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Project, Excel, Power Point, Latista, Google Docs and other project management software and applications.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, if required.
  • Requires work in a service center or field environment, including extensive computer and telephone use.
  • Requires excellent verbal and writing skills to communicate effectively with clients and their representatives, contractors, field engineers, peers and management.
  • Requires mature judgment, responsible for assigned projects and supervises, organizes and directs the work of others.
  • Requires high degree of communication, supervisory and organization skills.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work.
  • Must be available for out‑of‑town and international travel of up to several months.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to sit, and work at computer.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, basic color differentiation and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to lift and/or move test equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Valid Driver's License.
