Job summary
Vertiv's Electrical Reliability Services (ERS) invites a Field Engineer – Electrical Testing to join our team. You will perform acceptance, commissioning and maintenance testing on high voltage power systems, traveling up to 75% to support regional and national projects.
Ideal candidates bring NETA III/IV, 7+ years of hands-on HV testing, and strong relay coordination knowledge. You will mentor junior technicians and lead project teams on critical infrastructure tests.
Qualifications
- NETA Level III or IV certification current and in good standing.
- 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments.
- Proficiency with NETA MTS/ATS standards.
- Test equipment experience: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF.
- Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination.
- Ability to read one-line, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Valid driver's license with clean record.
- Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%).
Responsibilities
- Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500 kV.
- Conduct short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analyses.
- Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor).
- Test insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance on transformers, switchgear, cables, breakers.
- Interpret test results and write engineering reports with findings and recommendations.
- Troubleshoot complex failures under time-critical conditions.
- Mentor Level I/II technicians in the field.
- Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams.
- Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS, NFPA 70E, OSHA.

- Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations

- Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements
- NETA Level III or Level IV Certification (current and in good standing)
- 7+ years of hands‑on electrical testing experience in medium/high voltage environments
- Expert knowledge of NETA MTS and ATS standards
- Proficiency with test equipment: Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF, and equivalent
- Strong understanding of protective relay schemes and coordination
- Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and P&IDs
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Willingness to travel regionally (up to 75%)
- NETA Level IV Certification
- NICET Certification
- Experience with SF6 breaker maintenance
- Power systems engineering or related degree
- Prior leadership/supervisory experience on testing projects
- Experience in data center, utility, or industrial critical power environments
