Salary: $113,000 - 153,000 per year
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of experience in database engineering, software quality engineering, or test automation, including Oracle PL/SQL development.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices at the database or application layer.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance are required.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle database architecture, PL/SQL, and TDD methodologies.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, schema-as-code practices, and automated release and compliance gates.
- Working familiarity with Databricks, metadata cataloging tools such as Collibra, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
- Familiarity with agentic and generative AI workflow design, including secure conversational query interfaces.
- Positive approach and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to management and IT development partners.
- Preferred: experience with utPLSQL or other database-native automated testing frameworks, Databricks, RAG-based architectures, agentic AI workflows, and Agile development.
- An active SECRET clearance is preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results; where required by contract, must obtain and maintain appropriate clearances and qualify for access to military installations.
- Must maintain mental alertness and situational awareness and meet the roles physical demands, which may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, or stooping.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate contractor-delivered MilPDS Oracle database code, including PL/SQL packages, stored procedures, triggers, views, and schema updates.
- Develop a roadmap for moving legacy database code to Test-Driven Development, covering acceptance testing and unit testing.
- Design modular, independently testable database APIs that separate business rules from legacy user interfaces and triggers.
- Create production-grade database test routines and automated unit and integration test suites to validate contractor deliverables and preserve transactional isolation.
- Develop approaches to isolate business rules that differ across Active, Reserve, and Guard components and prevent regressions between them.
- Build scripts and data utilities for synthetic test data, database resets, and environment staging to support repeatable, unattended testing.
- Integrate automated database tests and schema-as-code version control into the programs CI/CD pipeline.
- Create pipeline processes to reconcile developer-reported defects in JIRA with the authoritative ALM Octane system before code promotion, supporting CPAR data-quality measures.
- Capture API traffic, user clickstreams, and database queries during exploratory testing, then convert them into reusable test assets and code templates.
- Implement pipeline-based Test Readiness Review gates that block code migration until database checks, least-privilege security validation, and compliance evidence requirements are satisfied.
- Build data schemas, metadata catalogs, and Python-based RAG databases on WDP Databricks to support persistent, multi-session context.
- Develop a secure conversational interface using GenAI.mil integrations so leadership can query release readiness and receive real-time quality validations.
- Research and deploy autonomous or semi-autonomous workflows for test-case generation, failure-log analysis, ongoing database-test monitoring, and test-asset creation.
- Create a feedback loop that analyzes production anomaly logs, performs root-cause analysis, and feeds findings into database test-suite generation to strengthen release gates.
